TweakEEE and other EeePC Links

Just a few links I found useful or interesting:

  • Infinite Designs explains how to improve the EeePC’s standard configuration in part 1 and part 2. These changes can also be made with the TweakEEE package, which is very nice and easy to use.
  • Lots of helpful infos can be found in the EeePC user forums and communities at eeeuser.com, and in German at eeepc.de and eee-pc.de.
  • Discussion about different emulators on the EeePC. I once installed vice from the standard repository and was able to run Commodore 64 games on the EeePC. My USB Competition Pro joystick was recognized automatically, no additional setup required.
  • Jkkmobile explains how to add a touch panel to the EeePC. He also has other how-to’s and mods including how to add 3G modem inside or how to open the EeePC. Fascinating, although I’m not sure if I’m ready to solder around with the EeePC yet. :)
  • William Ruckman explains in this article how to recompile the EeePC Xandros Linux Kernel. I haven’t recompiled the kernel, but it pointed me to Slax and how to create a complete backup of the solid-state disk.
