BikeLog 080609: Intro and Montebello Lake

I briefly mentioned in my previous cycling-posts that I was planning to record cycling routes with the gps and create something like a bike-log. I’m starting today with my first log-entry and hope to continue this as often as I can and time permits.

There are several ideas and intentions behind this little side-project. I want to record bicycle routes and make some notes about them. I’m mostly interested in the route, the time, the weather and traffic, as well as my own physical condition. Perhaps I will be able to compile the perfect routes, perhaps other cyclists are interested in these experiences as well.

I am not sure how frequently I will record my rides. My daily rides to work will probably not show up here every day, but I will try to do this for all new routes I’m going to attempt and explore. I might also use this as a fitness journal. I may ride outside, or on the bike-trainer in the basement, but whenever I have the data I will also lay down my heart to your feet for your amusement. You are invited to join me on a fun journey of joy…and suffering. :-)

So here it comes…I will try to keep the following format:

Condition:

Not in the best shape after taking a week off. Left foot (perhaps Achilles tendon) didn’t feel right since Saturday. Felt better once I was in the saddle, but didn’t feel as strong as usual. Uphill felt quite easy, heartrate wasn’t as high as it used to be.
