Tangentially, I lived in your neck of the woods, I believe, Hoogkerk, Netherlands and Mainz, Germany, for stints as a kid and was blown away by the state of design in both countries. Great design! I really appreciate you took the time to read my post. Except for the music I did like your video and found it interesting how everybody reacted to each other, the place and the camera. I was especially fascinated by your mother, who reminded me a little of my own grandmother. It was only the music that ruined it for me. Unfortunately, I found myself more distracted than focused on the relationship. It's possible that I wasn't able to relate to the music, or that I tried to find my personal experiences reflected in your video, considering the familiarity of the situation. Whenever I return to meet my family after several years and visit the places I grew up in I find myself overwhelmed with a lot of memories and mixed emotions. It's my family, being real, and was created as a video installation for a gallery. About the sound: I replaced it with "America the Beautiful" so people would focus on the relationship between my mother, my sister, and myself....I also loved Jim Jacob's short. Good luck with your design business. I got my MFA in design and worked for years for WETA and for a firm in Baltimore before "crossing over" to the dark side of art.
